I’m a morning person and have been for years. I never sleep in, not even on the weekends, I don’t want to miss my morning time. Here’s what my morning usually looks like.
My Morning Routine
I wake up at
4.50am. My phone (which doubles as my alarm) is away from from my bed, so I have to get up to turn it off. I never snooze my alarm.
First thing(s) I do in the morning
I get my gym clothes on, take my supplements, and drink a glass of water. My gym bag and clothes have already been prepared the night before so I don’t have to think about (or forget) any of that in the morning.
Before heading to the gym/work I
I live a stone’s throw from my gym, which opens at 6am. So, I could get up 10 minutes before the gym opens and head straight out. However, I love my morning routine of taking it slow before heading to the gym. What I do? After my initial necessary activities (mentioned above) I grab a NOCCO (BCAA drink) and sip it while lying on the sofa and checking messages on my phone, scrolling Instagram, and reading my book.
I have my first cup of coffee
At around 7.30 am when I get into the office.
My breakfast consists of
I eat my breakfast at the office after the gym. Today I had oatmeal with protein powder, raspberries, blueberries and a big dollop of peanut butter. Plus a cup of coffee and a big glass of water with lemon.
My favorite kind of morning
My best mornings are the ones that go along the routine mentioned above – a slow start where I have time to check my messages, scroll through Instagram and maybe read my book a bit and then head to the gym. The gym is a staple part of my morning routine. The days I don’t work out in the morning I feel really “off”. I’m tired and often end up feeling rushed because my routine is so backwards. Working out in the morning gives me so much energy and is such an ingrained and natural routine for me.
In my headphones in the morning
At the gym I’m either listening to my workout playlist, a random workout playlist on Spotify, or a podcast. On the subway on my way to work I’m most often listening to a podcast.
My first outfit of the day is, of course, my gym clothes. I own four pair of Gymshark tights and alternate those pairs along with a sports bra, tank top, and sneakers. I also have my white Marshall headphones on. Once I’ve done my workout I shower and get changed into my outfit of the day for work.
I start work at
Since I’m an early riser, I’m always at work early. I get to the office around 7.15 or 7.30am most days, and I’m almost always the first one there. I like getting into the office early and going about my tasks in peace and quiet, before everyone else gets to the office and things get noisy and busy. By the time I get to the office I’ve already been up for several hours, gone about my morning routine at home, and got in a 45 min – 1h workout.
My routine gets messed up in the morning when
Honestly, when I don’t work out in the morning! My workout is such a staple part of my morning routine that when I don’t go to the gym, my routine feels so off and getting ready in the morning takes longer time than usual. Also, when I get too distracted thinking about the day or other things and end up losing track of time.
