Nobody likes having a cold, so today I’m sharing my go to fresh squeezed power juice that I have whenever I feel a cold coming on.

Whenever I feel a little tingle in my throat, cough, or in some other way feel a cold coming on, I whip out my juicer and make this fresh squeezed power juice. It’s full of strong citrusy and vitamin-c packed fruits and topped off with spices that make you sweat a little bit.

Last time I had a cold I squeezed and drank several big glasses of this juice. What had started out as something threatening to become a nasty cold (you know those initial symptoms of aching body and sore throat) never blossomed to more than just that first two or three days of a sore throat. I swear chugging so much of this spicy fresh squeezed power juice was what got me back in action so quickly.

I can’t recommend this juice enough. As soon as you’re feeling the slightest symptom of a cold of flu, make it!

Fresh Squeezed Power Juice

Makes 1 glass

1 apple, chopped into 4 pieces
1 orange, peeled
1/2 lemon, peeled
1 stalk of celery
thumb sized piece of fresh ginger
1/4 tsp chili power
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp turmeric

How to

  1. Chop all your fruit and vegetables into chunks small enough to fit in your juicer. Peel the lemon and orange. The apple and ginger don’t need peeling.
  2. Pop all the fruit and vegetables into your juicer.
  3. Once everything is juiced, add the spices and whisk to combine.
  4. Taste and then add some cold water to dilute the juice if it’s too tart.
